Charles Newton contributed numerous innovative ideas and designs to  the firearms industry between the years of 1905 and 1932. His ballistic  experimentations using the premise of a large shell case for caliber to  attain high velocity, led to the development of many new cartridges  from.  Newton marketed high power rifles from 1914 to the late 1920s.   He imported rifles from Germany in 1914 and 1922 and manufactured two  models of Newton rifles using his own design ideas.

    The second edition of The Newton Rifle is the most complete source of  information available concerning Charles Newton and his contributions to  the firearms industry.  The data in this volume was compiled using over  100 historical and contemporary sources of reference to present the  complete history and details of the Newton story. All models of Newton  rifles are detailed: 1914 Rifle Group, First Model 1916, Model 1922,  Second Model 1924 Buffalo Newton rifle and the LeverBolt rifle. Standard  and factory available options, mechanical workings of each model,  one-of-a-kind rifles and developments that never came to be are  discussed in this book Some of the information included herein has never  been presented by any other source i.e. a rifle from the first and only  shipment of 24 rifles imported by Newton in 1914 and an original,  custom rifle made by Fred Adolph in caliber .40 Newton. The Newton  Rifle, contains the history of each Newton associated enterprise along  with sections on Newton related products such as ammunition, cartridge  head stamps, cartridge boxes, catalogs and reloading tools. The book  contains over 240 color pictures including rifle design details,  ammunition boxes, cartridges and 48 rifles. There are over 80 scans of  various subjects related to Newton rifles. This book was written as a  reference guide for the Newton collector as well as a source of  historical information for the firearms admirer who may want to know  more about this interesting aspect of the firearms industry.
